Globalization is generally acknowledged as one of the most obvious and eye-catching development trend which has the deepest influences upon the whole world. Since the 1990s, globalization has entered into a rapid stage of development. It not only deepens interdependence and interrelations between the nation-states, but also produces a"hard-nut to crack". In the field of economy, it clearly reflects the contradictions between the globalization and the economic nationalism adopted by the sovereign states. These days, as for the developing countries, how to cope with the impacts of globalization as well as how to choose the policy of economic nationalism to push forward the economic development, all these are not only an urgent policy, but also a very important research subject which are the core of the paper. In retrospect, since the 1950s or 1960s, the colonial or semi-colonial countries started to carry out a second wave of nationalism in Asia, Africa and Latin America. They won their national independence and then established their nation-states, comprising the basic part of the present-day meaning of developing countries. Later, with the aim to strengthen the political independence and to shackle off the dependence upon the western countries, they on the outset held the economic nationalism movement fighting for economic independence, which was also a golden period for the economic nationalism. The paper chooses the two typical countries—Mexico and the South Korea—as the cases. I make a clear-cut comparison and analysis, and go deep further into the new orientation of the two countries these days. From the perspective of the developing countries, the globalization poses the great challenges to the policy of economic nationalism and instills new things. If they can adopt"the positive economic nationalism", it can lead to win-win and multi-win situations and finally realize prosperity during the process of globalization and of the struggles for national interests.
