From Moral Alliance To Fandom Politics:The Change Of The Organization And Discourse Of Cyber Nationalism

The appearance of the national state makes nationalism a dominant discourse.On the one hand,as a mobilization strategy,it covers the existing knowledge structure and power relations;on the other hand,as the consequence of historical relations,it covers more profound historical culture origins and public emotions.The Internet has reformed and consturcted nationalism with more significant and effective way of public participation.Through the netnography,content analysis,discourse analysis and in-depth interview,we have revealed the process of cyber nationalism from two aspects: the organization and its discourse.In the BBS era,the Moral Alliance constituted by the intellectual elite and the public was the main body of the group,which portrayed a picture of the national destiny in the deepening period of reform and opening-up.On the one hand,the Times of Information placed the public on a common time spot to face the challenges of modernization;on the other hand,when faced with inequity and crisis,the national identity of victims would be activated by recalling the historical pains and established a connection between past and present.During the period of SNS,subcultural communities were taken as the main body of the group.The unique style smoothed out the individual differences and helped them gain the opportunity to get rid of stigma.However,the continuous identity production mechanism of We and Others made a silent space for resistance in the subcultural communities.In the stage of monopolized platform era,fandom is the main body of the group,the community has been well versed in the new media and has won public recognition.But at the same time,it has also reserved the non-negotiable space with the classical perception,the cyber nationalism has dissipated towards pan-entertainment.These public participation has revealed the reconstruction of the nationalism,and the fandom publics are experiencing such a practice of fighting for the initiative online.Meanwhile,it's also well worth warning the dispersed identity behind the game-playing participation.
