Integrated Circuit (IC) is one of the important foundations in the development of information industry, which plays a leading role in the world economy in 21century. The level of IC industry of a country is becoming one of signs of the comprehensive national strength. In the Tenth_Five year Plan of China, the investment by the Ministry of Science and Technology on R&D platform reached a new high level. 7 national integrated circuit design industrialization public R&D platform were founded in the country.To found and operate the IC design R&D platforms for the vital small and middle sized IC design enterprises and to make it develop sustainable are hard problems because this industry changes rapidly. The sustainable development of IC design R&D platforms could provide a public technical service at the leading edge. It is important for increasing the efficiency of investment governmental, for enhancing the innovation capacity of IC design industry and the enterprises, and for reducing the cost of innovation. At the same time, it is a good reference for the sustainable development of R&D platforms in other areas.On studying deeply the characteristics of requirement of IC design R&D, the public R&D platforms domestic and abroad, and the 7 IC design platforms in China, this thesis makes a research innovative and heuristic on the sustainable development of IC design R&D platforms. The main contents are as follows:A detailed analysis on current situation of the public R&D platforms domestic and abroad and of the 7 IC design platforms in China.A detailed analysis on the influence of IC design R&D platforms to IC industry and to the area where it located.Doing research and giving an opinion on the model of construction of IC design R&D platforms hierarchic and sustainable.
