With the rapid growth of its economy, East Asia has become one of the most important regions around the world, which makes the economic integration of East Asia more and more important and attracting. As China, Japan and ROK are the three most important economies in East Asia, the building of the FTA among China, Japan and ROK has always been the core of the process of the economic integration of the whole East Asia. The driving force for the cooperation of the FTA among the three countries includes both internal and external factors. Economic interest in the most important inner factor, as the building of the FTA among China, Japan and the ROK, is the key to the maximization of the economic gains in the region. Meanwhile, the most important external factors include the possible loss of interest and opportunity cost in noncooperation and the exemplary effects of the EU and NAFTA. These factors make the various countries in East Asia and China, Japan and ROK in particular, adopt cooperative stances in promoting the progress of the integration。The strength of these two factors fundamentally decide how far the integration goes, whose characteristics also make China, Japan and ROK prefer the path as follow: motivate the process firstly by economic interest, following with the rapid building of institution, which to keep the process moving.Taking China, Japan and ROK as the leading entities, this paper makes an in-depth study of the East Asia economic integration and raises relevant policy recommendations.
