As the main body of the world ecosystem, forests are directly related to the survival and development of human being. How to protect forests in the process of forest managing and finding the best way to promote harmonious development between man and nature is the stand of close-to-nature forestry theory. The purpose of this study is trying to find out advantages of close-to-nature forestry on costs and benefits through researching. It aims to give some references to find whether we can take this management technique. This paper takes some research methods such as document reference, logical analysis, case analysis to analyze the costs and benefits of close-to-nature forestry management, and to focus on making a comparative analysis about the costs and benefits of close-to-nature forestry and plantation forestry, and discussing the ecological meaning and economic meaning to the sustainable development of our forestry if we adopt close-to-nature forestry techniques, according to Chinese forestry developing state. This paper analyzed the limits of adopting this technique objectively, putted forward some proposals with pertinence. The results showed that: compare with plantation forestry, the other costs of close-to-nature forestry are much lower except cutting costs and investigation costs, from the long operating term, the initial input will be excessive, but will gradually reduce with the constant succession of forest, and achieve balance at a lower level. Close-to-nature forestry management could supply high quality woods continuously, the qualities are higher than the pure plantation forests. Because of rich species and varied age class, it have reliable response capacity to changing market and satisfy different market demands. At present, there are restricted factors such as concepts, engineering level, pre-investment and so on, they restrict we adopt close-to-nature forestry techniques. So I suggest that the forestry workers must change their mind and do more study and practice in close-to-nature forestry, improving our country's forestry management level.
