Optical Devices Product Development, Project Management System To Improve

Project management, as a management technology, was developed in the middle of last century. As the global competition is becoming hotly, the requirements from customer are diversified, which lead to the fast development of project implementation. The number of project was increased dramatically, so economic organizations have to balance the resource, make sure it can be used properly. According to three elements time,cost and performance to allocate the project resource and try to achieve the best results. The project management system was developed from traditional management stage to modern project management style, many project management toolings such as Critical Patch Method (CPM), Earned Value Method (EVM), Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) were established. It is well applied in different stage of project including the start of project, planning, execute, control and close stage.Under the efforts of U. S PMI and EU IPMP, the project management theory system is developed to be a completed one, more and more industrials or companies are making use of it to handle their daily management activities. New product development activities, as a one time and unique activity, always is ranked as a critical element for a company, it is the key performance index of core competition capability. Meanwhile, it is also a kind of complicated activity which includes the business chance and risk to a company. If an enterprise wants to enhance his competition capability, it would better enforce its project management skill, create a team cross different functions, set up an official product design process, use project management methodology to execute, ensure to make full use of project time, technology and human resource to finish all project task with high efficiency.This paper describe the theory of modern project management and new product development, discuss the meaning and characteristic of new product development project management; then based on the knowledge that had learned and the new product development experience in TE, analyzed the current status of fiber optics market, point out the problem that existing in the new product design project. Study the critical points of new product design and main issue that need to be solved after review several new product design cases; raise the suggestion or solution to improve the project management capability in TE. Hope it can be helpful to enhance the skill of project management in TE.
