China is becoming a world factory, but there is a big gap to be a world class factory. There are many jobs to do to transfer from a world factory to a world class factory, the most important is operations management innovation.The thesis identified the necessary for China traditional pump manufacturer to do operations management innovation after comparing Chinese and International pump manufacturer operations system and their outputs. At the same time, analyzed the operations management innovation of a typical pump manufacturer of Hamilton Sundstrand Industrial (shanghai) Co. Ltd, introduced their Achieve Competitive Excellence operating system, such as "customer define quality", "benchmarking of competitive excellence", "Leading indicator" and "out-sourcing and supplier chain management" etc including their 13 operating tools which can be adopted directly by others.The thesis summarized some basic guidelines for operations transformation or innovation after analyzing Hamilton Sundstrand Industrial(Shanghai) Co. Ltd with contingency theory, leadership, changing management and corporation culture theory.The contingency theory indicated there is no a set of management theory can fit all kind of company, but some basic guidelines could be comply for current Chinese traditional pump manufactures, they are culture building, focus on process, just do it, trust and step by step.The changing management theory analysis showed the entrepreneurship, self-denial and systematical changing management system are the basis of operations management innovation.The corporation culture analysis gave more information. In order to syncretize Chinese and western culture, some guidelines are useful, such as agency system, training, focus on details, involve all employees, step by step and assessment etc. In order to correct & avoid bias, building common language, managed changing and correct it timely and continually are very important guidelines.The analysis from leadership showed that the changing pressure, exceed company itself profit and getting a transformation leader are very important. Geeting a transformation leader seems a difficult thing, but one manager can be this kind of leader if he/she could insist on honesty, focusing on vision with encourage spirits, build mission and realistic values, treat changing as normal status, try to get international vision and unremitting.
