The urban construction of nowadays has developed to a historical stage undoubtedly. In China, from major cities like Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou to the second-tier cities like Chengdu and third-tier cities like Hangzhou all the cities are establishing their own city images. Street furniture as the detail components in the city- image system, and it stands for "Quality stems from the details". When the social and the government raise the street furniture to a certain height to boost urban construction, we should resurvey street furniture and the role it plays in the urban construction. In fact, street furniture is made up of several monomers, but it is cross managed by several units and departments, therefore, the design of street furniture stops over create independently. Moreover,this situation dissevers the relationship of system unit in street furniture, and it has made street furniture lack of the characteristic of systematical and comprehensive social property as a fuction of a city.Happen to be present at the right moment or occasion in 2008, the government of Hangzhou as the originator, and the urban esthetics team of the China Academy of Art makes a comprehensive and systematical review of the conformity and innovation of the street furniture in Hangzhou. Fortunately, I took part in this research, and made a comprehensive survey on the construction of Hangzhou street furniture, meanwhile, I deeply researched the urban street furniture system and the designing practice on it.In the hope of solving the same type of problems on Chinese urban construction development and making it ultilizing others work.
