Technologieal innovation and knowledge innovation has become the main theme of the times as the era of knowledge economy of the 21st century .Telecommunications industry display an important component of social economic life.Under this background, Sichuan Unicom Chengdu Branch developed rapidly.The compensation play an essential role in attracting more competent employees.Therefore,the issue of compensation have become the most component in the labor market and the Human Resource Management(HRM). The effective compensation will realize the enterprises'HRM competitive advantage and construct attractive working environment, then finally balance the benefit between enterprise's and the staff' s and make the enterprises'benefit maximization.Under the frame of corporation strategies, compensation play its role by setting compensation factors to realize the enterprise's strategic target and satisfies staff's multiple demands in the times of knowledge economy.At first, the paper introdruced the research background ,function, classification,meaning and concept of compensation.Emphasis on the intrinsic compensation and the extrinsic compensation factor.Using the Equity theory,Y-theory and other drive theories explain the total compensation system's reasonability.Meanwhile it introduced the factors of the total reward separately,salary,welfare,career and working profile environment. Second,it described the development of China United Telecommucations Corporation and general survey of Sichuan Unicom Chengdu Branch .And discussed the Chengdu Unicom contingent workers salary present situation, constructions as well as questions.Then gave its compensation adjustment plan, discussed job evaluation and job analysis on the basis of related information.The compensation system have its two main basic units:job evaluation and job analysis.Then told Total compensation appliance concretely method of contingent workers.Finally evaluated compensation system,discussed about the difficulties of using it.
