In the thesis,I examine the effect of New Economic Geography on industrial agglomeration in Yangtze River Delta Zone(Shanghai,Jiangsu, Zhejiang). The data set include 25 two-digit and 115 three-digit manufacturing industries and the time span is six years from 2001 to 2006. In regression equation,I use fixed effect model to eliminate the effect of economic policy. The results reveal that backward-forward linkages, industrial diversity, competition and population are statistically significant indicators.I don' t find the evidence of industrial specialization. The outcomes of sensitivity analysis also prove the results above.Through analysis of statistical description and regression results,I find some insight of industrial transformation in this area. In the last chapter,I also apply the method of patent application to investigate the mechanism of knowledge spillover. The results reveal that University R&D does not make direct influence on the innovation of firms in this area.
