To Obtain A Path Based On The Modular Structure Of The Advantages Of The Chinese Automobile Industry

Under the condition of the modularity of the global automobile industry as the automobile industry develops rapidly, it has some realistic meaning to study how the Chinese automobile companies to get the architecture advantage. The documents present study the resources of the competitive advantage deeply at different angles but don't study much of the structural advantage and the paths by which to get the structural advantages, therefore there is some values in theory of studying the paths of getting the structural advantages. The emphasis of this paper is studying the paths by which the companies get the structural advantages.In this paper, we study the paths by which the companies get the structural advantages in the modular industry by way of theory analyzing, present data analyzing and cases study, syncretizing the industrial value chain theory, the industry modularity theory, the competitive advantages theory and the structural advantages theory. On the basis of using the documents home and abroad as a resource of reference, we discourse systematically the concept, characteristic and benefits of the modularity, inspect the modular trend of the global automobile industry and prove the modular trend of the automobile industry in China by way of studying the development history of FAW beginning with the theory analyzing; we elaborate the value distribution of different value chain parts and the unbalanced value distribution of different modules and dissect the distribution of the different value chain parts and the unbalanced value distribution among different modules in Chinese automobile industry; define the structural advantages and discuss the characteristics of the structure advantages, and then on base of that, we discourse the practicable paths by which the industry new comers to get the structural advantages; at last, we give a case of one automobile parts company to discuss deeply the evolving process of the company and then prove the possibility of attaining the paths by which to get the structural advantages in practice.Through our study, the main results of this paper are: the Chinese FAW serving as an case, studying the important data and great incidents in FAW since 1994 and proving there has the modular trend in the Chinese automobile industry through inspecting the evolving and development process of Chinese automobile industry; on the basis of deeply studying the structural advantage theory, we define the structural advantage: in the modular industry structure, the company determine its boundary dynamically on the basis of the development of its own capability, and then attain the relevant advantages comparing with other modular companies in the industry; the industrial new comers firstly enters the modular industry under the condition of the incubents'disintegration, and make the innovative entry and its capability co-evolving, and then change its boundary under the different enviroments. The path is a feasible path by the case of a Chinese automobile parts company in our paper.
