Strategy is the important decision relates to all aspects.As to an enterprise,developing the right strategy directly determines whether the enterprise can survive or not.Metallurgy Co.has successfully developed itself by specialize its product line during the past years.However,the market environment is changing quickly today.Since Metallurgy Co.wants to further develop and to avoid being eliminated,it is important to review the company's development strategy now.The article is based on the practical demand mentioned above.I first describe the basis of different strategies about enterprise development,and then select focus strategy for Metallurgy Co.for its future development.This article has seven chapters.Chapter 1 introduces the background of the company, significance of the topic,logic framework,methods,possible innovation and flaws. Chapter 2 explains some basic idea of metallurgical machinery industry,market segment of metallurgy pot and cart,focus strategy and enterprise competency.It also theoretically summarizes the implementation form and prerequisite of focus strategy.Chapter 3 analyzes the external environment of Metallurgy Co.in detail,using PEST for macro environment such as political,economic,social culture and technological factors,using Value Chain theory,industry Life Cycle model,Porter's Five Forces competition model for metallurgical machinery industry.After the analysis,we can determine the market positioning of Metallurgy Co.Chapter 4 uses theory based on resource view to analyze company's internal resource and capacity,including tangible and intangible resources and uses VRIO framework to find out core resource and capacity.The Chapter also considers the company's stakeholders.In Chapter 5,SWOT model is applied to analyze Metallurgy Co.'s strengths,weaknesses,opportunities,threats.After comparing different strategies among Overall-Cost Leadership,Differentiation and Focus strategy,I determine that focus strategy is the best for the company.Chapter 6 deals with the implementation of focus strategy from the aspects of organization structure adjustment,internal operation system construction,sales and marketing system enhancement and R&D system building.Chapter 7 presents some suggestion of policy,further research direction and conclusion.The main innovation of the article is that it takes Metallurgy Co.as an example, combines theory with practice,to show how the company implements focus strategy and becomes the leading company of the market segmentation of metallurgy pot and cart.This may set up a good example for specialist and practitioners of management.At the same time,by studying one of the Chinese private enterprises Metallurgy Co,this article illustrates that Chinese private enterprises should choose the most appropriate development strategy according to its own environment and product characteristic.However,there is still some flaws in the article.For example,our strategy plans are based on the assumption that today's market environment would not change significantly.Because as long as industrial revolution is taking place,company's strategy should be adjusted and revised according to the actual situation of the company rather than follow the old path.The results of this article not only have great practical significance in Metallurgy Co.'s future development,but also can provide some guidance for the growing Chinese private enterprises.
