This paper selects food safety standards in international trade as the research object. It analyses food safety and related trade protection status, and the relationship between food safety and China's export trade and its impact. And it is also analyzes the characteristics of WTO standards and problems etc. This paper tries to find a dividing line between reasonable and unreasonable food safety standards, and takes different measures to resolve the problem about two kinds of standards. In order to reduce the negative impact of food safety standards to China's export trade.Reasonable food safety standards should be accepted, when the standard does not violate WTO rules. If the purpose is to protect people's lives and safety of their own maintenance, and our country also has no power to achieve that standard now, we should choose to actively improve production technology, improve production conditions, and other ways to improve our own product level. And in the same time, the relevant departments should speed up improvement of national standards and measures, and do their best to catch up with the international standards.By contrast, when we met with an unreasonable set of food safety standards, our government or industry enterprises should make full use of the existing agreements by WTO organization to do the protest, or use developing countries preferential treatment which was given by the WTO. It is also can use the new measure "a basket of standard" proposed by this paper, taken different treatment to different situations, so as to reduce the losses in China's food export caused by a result of such problems.
