Food safety is closely related to the life health of humans. Food safety issues take place frequently at home and abroad in recent years, which are highly valued by government, the public, food industry and other stakeholders. Japan is China's largest food-importing country. Sino-Japanese food trade has maintained a good development trend, however under the influence of the financial crisis in 2008, the Japanese economy continues to slump; In the meantime, the Japanese government attaches great importance to their public food safety. In this case, Japan has developed very high standards of food technology and highly demanding food import inspection and quarantine system, to a certain extent to ensure safety of food imported to Japan, but more important is the implementation of Japan's new trade protection policy, which caused a huge impact on China's food export.On the basis of fully analying foreign scholars'research theories and results on food safety, the research report makes the following results.Firstly, in regard to food safety, in combination with the WTO's SPS Agreement and TBT Agreement, the author analyzes the characteristics of food exports from China to Japan, focusing on Japan's detention of Chinese food.Secondly, the author analyzes a series of laws, standards, inspection and quarantine technical measures adopted by Japan, and through the use of game model analyzes the trade effect which effectively limits China's food exports to Japan in a short term.Thirdly, through the analysis approach of SWOT, the author focuses on analyzing the strengths and weaknesses of China's food export enterprises to Japan and combining the opportunities and challenges of China's food export to Japan.Lastly, combining the actual situation of China's food exports, government, food industry, food industry should take effective measures to promote the competitiveness of China's food trade with Japan.
