With the development of regional economic integration on a global scale, the pace of Chinese participation of economic integration organizations is faster and faster. The cross-strait economic and trade link is prosperous, and the negotiation about cross-strait economic integration has been proposed officially. After reviewing the literature about economic integration, this dissertation introduces the theories which are used to analysis the impact of economic integration on trade relation, and summarizes the researches on cross-strait economic and trade cooperation. Then it analyses the history and current situation of cross-strait economic relation. The analyses reported here indicate that Chinese Mainland and Chinese Taiwan are highly complementary in resources, however level of intra-industry trade is not high. Moreover, from the viewpoints of static effects and dynamic effects respectively, the cross-strait economic integration will advance the cross-strait trade relation.
