Under the circumstance of the ever-deepening global economic integration, business internationalization has become the unstoppable wave. With the rapid development of Chinese economy, plenty of multinational corporations, in the form of joint ventures, entered the huge market of China. While constantly creating economic miracles, these multinational joint ventures are also perplexed about management.Joint ventures, from the outside, are of joint finance, technology, merchandise, labor, and management on both ends; on the inside, they also entail joint ventures of cultures, which include impact, collision, and fusion of both cultures. Joint ventures need not only to put funds together, but more importantly, to merge ways of thinking, cultures, and systems from both sides.Based on basic management theories of cross-cultural conflicts and the general pattern of cross-cultural conflicts in joint ventures, this thesis looks into the case of Alcatel Shanghai Bell Co., Ltd. from the angle of cultural differences, and tries to analyze the patterns and causes of cross-cultural conflicts in this joint venture in order to identify the impact (negative impact in particular) of those conflicts on its development.By looking into management measures taken in Alcatel Shanghai Bell Co., Ltd. and further identifying the inadequacy on the cross-cultural conflict management level, this thesis also tries to put forward some administrative suggestions on cultural fusion and some feasible thoughts on improving cultural conflict management in Alcatel Shanghai Bell Co., Ltd. And other joint ventures.
