Correlation Of Patent Ability And Enterprise Performance

In the new century, high-tech develops so rapid, and the trend of economic globalization is increasingly clear, then, the international competition heats up. In this era of knowledge explosion of economic, the integration, configuration, application and spread of the intellectual resources, has become an important foundation for rapid economic development. When the development elements, such as human capital, land, energy and environment, become increasingly strained, enhancing the capacity of independent innovation becomes the realistic choice which is used to keep sustainable competitive advantage for enterprises in China, as well as SiChuan. Intellectual property rights are the basis and core of independent innovation and the patent has become the important way to get the effective protection of intellectual property. Then Competition in the patent has become a strategic high ground for the international technology competition and economic competition.At present, the effect of the patent capability to enterprise performance has become increasingly prominent. In particular, after entering to WTO, as the strategic high ground of the international inter-technology competition and economic competition, the competition of patent become more and more intense. How to measure the patent capability to gain competitive advantage in the patent status, how to use the patent capability to affect positive effects on enterprise performance in order to gain competitive advantage, has become the key to competition and research focus. On the one hand, the facts of patent data show that, the patent capability plays the positive role in promoting performance of the enterprise. On the other hand, from the investigate for the IP capability in Sichuan, the IP capability of firms which have no patent have more contribute to the performance of the enterprises. And then, how to measure the ability for patent, how about the Correlation and Influential Factors between patent capability and Performance, this series of questions become the focus of studies.Therefore, on the basis of the theoretical research for the competitive advantage and intellectual property rights (including patents) ,this paper put forward the concept of the patent capability, and after the analysis of the static and dynamic factor for patent capability, this paper established the measure Indicators of the patent capability,and then, built relationship model between the patent capability and enterprise performance. At the same time, based on the sample of enterprise data integration in Sichuan, this article used descriptive statistics, multivariate statistical methods and structural equation model to get the empirical studies on correlation and influential factors between patent capability and enterprise performance. The results are that: there was a significant positive correlativity between patent capability and performance of firms in SiChuan. Simultaneously, the factors that sources of competitiveness, enterprise scale, enterprise nature and market structure affect the correlation between patent capability and performance of firms in SiChuan. Finally, this paper selects three representative companies as cases, to show the different features of patent management in the different technological capabilities development paths, and get some suggestion.
