| Siziwangqi is located in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, although it is a state-level poor county, it is blessed with a covering of about 80% grassland of the entire county area. Grassland, features the rich tourist resources of Siziwangqi, has attracted many tourists to the county for sightseeing.With the development of reform and opening up, Siziwangqi's tourism has gradually become one of the pillar industries in local economy. In spite of the great achievement in tourism, we must clearly recognize that Siziwangqi are confronted with many challenges and problems, which can set back the rapid and sustainable development of tourism. Only these problems are resolved will it be possible to bring "sustainable" development of the tourism to Siziwangqi.Based on field work, the author has referred to a greater amount of books on tourism development. The paper is consisted of six chapters, attempt to give a full description of the situation and conduct a preliminary study on tourism development in Siziwangqi.The first chapter is an overview of Siziwangqi, mainly including the introduction of geographical, administrative divisions and socio-economic and natural ecological conditions. The second chapter begins the theme of tourism development, gives a detail description of the development of tourism. The description is carried out in three aspects: First, the most important results obtained, namely, the growth of tourism output, which enhance the status of tourism in the local economy and the increase the number of tourism employees; Second, there are some prominent issues:the need to improve the quality of tourism resources, tourism structure needs to be improved, tourism management system need to be perfected; Third, the chances and challenges faced by tourism. The third chapter summarizes and analyzes the characteristics of the tourism industry with emphasis on Siziwangqi's history, culture, geography. The fourth chapter researches negative factors setting back tourism development of Siziwangqi, they are natural factors, economic factors, idea factors and management and institutional factors. The fifth Chapter is aimed at overcoming the above-mentioned negative factors, in this chapter, advices given seek to be able to fit the actual Siziwangqi and have sound feasibility.In short, there are many deficiencies in the paper due to limitations of data and writing skills, but the research on Siziwangqi, a county with relatively lagging socio-economic development and rapidly emerging tourism, can be a realistic attempt. This study will provide relevant learning experiences to tourism of those Chinese western counties that are similar to Siziwangqi. |
