Agriculture is the foundation of national economy, and the grain production is the section with greatest importance. Food security is closely related to social stability. Subject to the increasingly severe pollution and the land reduction, food security will be an issue for a long time. Food policy is one of the most important factors in the process of grain production, so suitable policies and timely execution is essential in maintaining food security.Agent-based modelling and simulation, built on individuals'behaviors, holds the viewpoint that the disciplines of the whole system are the result of interactions between large numbers of heterogeneous agents, while most traditional economic models treat individuals as homogeneous and rational, and system is a simple aggregation of individuals. The features of ABMS make endogenously generating structural change possible, and make it a suitable approach to study the emergence of complex phenomenon. In this article, based on the farm-household framework, a model on grain production is founded to analyze the impacts of grain direct subsidy policy and price supporting policy on grain production and farm-household income. The possibility of using ABMS as a policy simulator in policy-making is also inspected.
