Visual identification of a scenic spot, vital to shaping the scenic spot image, functions as a delivery system of the scenic spot management philosophy as well as spiritual culture.Ⅵ, as an indispensible part in its development strategy, also plays an important part in creating competitive advantage. The creation ofⅥ, focused on the objective of shaping the scenic spot visual image and supported by visualized codes, is an artistic production aimed to help tourists accomplish touring process smoothly.This paper was focused on exploring and creating theⅥof the Dragon Pavilion in Kaifeng, Henan Province. The whole exploration and research process was carried on steadily and skillfully based on the characteristics ofⅥdesignation and abided by the procedures. Through investigation, observe and study of the scenic natural and human resources, the scenic spot image was determined and thenⅥof it was created on the basis of literature reviews and analysis of the questionnaires, the actual situation, resources and characteristics of scenic spots, the existing visual identity design, and expectations of tourists. It is expected to help create a new image of the scenic spot, enhance its fascination, and promote tourism of the scenic spot. It can also serve as a model for other scenic spots. The objective of this research is to explore and create a newⅥsystem of the Dragon Pavilion.This paper is constituted by the following five parts.Part one:Describing conception, elements, characteristics ofⅥand procedures ofⅥdesign.Part two:Positioning the image on the basis of summing up the characteristics of scenic resources and social cognition of the scenic image through investigation and questionnaire analysis.Part three:Determining the design scheme ofⅥ, after summarizing the good qualities and weak points of the existingⅥaccording to image positioning of Dragon Pavilion and direction ofⅥdesign.Part four:Developing the scenic spotⅥsystem on basis of the scenic spot positioning and the direction ofⅥcreation, by virtue of abstract, generalized and visualized codes, and in accordance with the scenic spot characteristics, historical and local culture and psychological need of tourists.Part five:Making several conclusions of this paper, making expectations hereafter and summarizing experience ofⅥdesign and through exploration andⅥdesign.
