Purpose : to investigate the relativity between gastroscope images, Helicobacter pylori (Hp) infection and tongue picture of chronic superficial gastritis (CSG).Method : cases sources: patients diagnosed as CSG by gastroscope and pathological examine in digestive department of the first hospital affiliated to Chinese Medical University; time extent: September 2009 to January 2010; required document: case history, symptom, physical sign, diagnosis result by gastroscope and pathological examine, Hp infexation evidence, tongue picture (tongue colour and tongue coating) and other correlated examine results; investigation method: clinical questionnaire; according to gastroscope diagnosis, classify the 241 cases into 3 groups: simple CSG, CSG with erosion, CSG with bile regurgitation; bring the tongue picture of prelimitary diagnosis into document; divide into groups of Hp(+) and Hp(-), on the basis of companion with Hp infexation or not. Finally, statistically analyze the relation between tongue pictures and corresponding gastroscope images, the condition of Hp infexation, to observe the disposition law of CSG tongue picture, and its relationship with TCM patterns of syndrome differentiation. Results:there are 138 simple CSG cases, 58 CSG cases with erosion, 45 CSG cases with bile regurgitation, without differences between any two groups on gender, ages (P>0.05). Generally, the red tongue is the major tongue body of CSG patients. There are 112 patients with red tongue (46.5%), 87 patients with carmoisine tongue (36.1%). Rank the three group according to the amount of red tongue cases from large to small: CSG with bile regurgitation (51.1%)>CSG with erosion (46.6%)>simple CSG (44.9%);and there is statistical significance between any two groups (P<0.05). The thin and white tongue coating is the major of simple CSG patients, and amount of the thin tongue coating is larger than the thick; the thick and yellow tongue coating is seen frequently both the patients of CSG with erosion and CSG with bile regurgitation, and amount of thick tongue coating is larger than the thin in each group. rank the three groups by the amount of thick and yellow tongue coating cases: CSG with bile regurgitation(33.3%)>CSG with erosion (29.3%)>simple CSG(16.7%).The amount of CSG Hp (+) is larger than Hp (-). The tongue picture of the former is that the thick and yellow tongue coating and red tongue were seen frequently; The tongue picture of the latter is that the thin and white tongue coating and carmoisine tongue were seen frequently. Conclusion:there is relativity between gastroscope images, Hp infection, TCM pattern of syndrome and tongue picture of CSG. The tongue can reflect the CSG condition under gastroscope and the developing law, to some degree. However, for the limitation of patients extent, the further research is needed for precisely clinical diagnosis.
