Traditional Chinese medicine holds that the Ren Meridian governs the yin of the human body and regulates the banlance of the yin and yang. The main function of the meridian is to replenish qi and blood and strenghten the body resistance.Much clinical and experimental research has recently been done both at home and abroad as to the method, means and the mechanisms of acupuncture on immunization, which is based on the meridian theory.Although the "nerve- endocrine-immunity network"docrine is widely accepted in the world, there are very few papers dealing with the effect of the immunological regulation and immunity mechanism of the six points of the Ren Meridian. This is the first time to conduct the research on the immunity mechanismof acupuncture from the viewpoint of the correlation between the thymus and the six points of RN17,RN18,RN19.RN2O,RN21 and RN22 which are close to the thymus in mice.Flat-penetrating method is adopted to observe the weight of the thymus, activity of the NK cells, and the content of iminunoglobin before and after needling is administered. The effect of the acupuncture on the mice thymus immunological function is recorded from thr molecule level of the immune organs and immunocytes. The purpose is to find out the effect of long time stress on mice immunological functiopn as well as the side effect on the body when it fights against irritable stimuli. The writer attempts to discover the regulation mechanism of acupuncture on thymus immunological funtion by studying the relation between the Ren Meridian and the thymus. The experiment shows that needling the six points of the Ren Meridian can serve to strenghten the mice immunological function and resist lingering irratable stimuli, which is displayed as follows: 1. Acupuncture can serve to greatly increase IL-2 cytoactive, which is secreted by regulatory T-cells from the thymus. 2. Acupunction can serve to greatly increase NK cytoactive of the killer cells, which is very important for cellular immunity. 3. Acupuncture can serve to inccrease the weight of the mice thymus. 4. Acupuncture can serve to regulate the content of immunoglobin during stress. 5. Different needling method (electrotherapy and hand acupuncture) tends to produce different result. To sum up, acupuncture can be used to relieve immunological inadequacy in mice due to stress.Needling the six points of the Ren Meridian can help to improve the immunity and immunological regulation function, which may serve as an auxilary treatment for immunological inadequacy, and the one due to lingering irritable stimuli in particular.Besides, hand acupuncture proves betterthan the electrotherapy.
