ObjectiveTo investigate the levels of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) and interleukin-18( IL-18) in serum from patients with rheumatoid arthritis(RA). We determined significant difference between RA and osteoarthritis(OA) and healthy control group, the relation between VEGF and IL-18 in serum of human RA, and discussed the role of VEGF and IL-18 in the pathogenesis of of rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and also its therapeutic consequences.. MethodsAt first, choose patients with RA(n=30),and patients with osteoarthritis( OA ) (n=30),and healthy persons(n=30) who were taken as a control group.Levels of VEGF and IL-18 in serum were determined by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA). Levels of RF and CRP in the serum were also determined using Beckman Array 360. At the same time, determining erythrocyte sedimentation rate(ESR) each case. To study significant difference between RA and OA and healthy control group. and to study the relation between these two cytokines and RF, CRP, ESR and sydroms. ResultsIn RA patients, the average value of VEGF, IL-18,RF, CRP and ESR were( 158.6±49.1 ) pg/mL, ( 150.8±59.1 ) pg/mLl, ( 335.2±304.8 ) IU/mL,(35.5±36.7) mg/L, (40±38.2) mm/h; ;in osteoarthritis patients, they were as follows: (29.9±20.8) pg/mL, (138.5±62.4) pg/mL, 〈30 IU/mL, 〈8mg/L,〈20 mm/h;respectively,in healthy controls, they were as follow: (12.4±3.6) pg/mL, (38.2±20.8) pg/mL, 〈30IU/Ml, 〈8mg/L, 〈20 mm/h.. The levels of VEGF were significant difference between RA and osteoarthritis and healthy control group(t=4.82, p<0. 001; t=5.71, p<0. 001). Serum levels of VEGF in RA patients were associated with the number of joint pain, swollen joint,duration... |
