This paper focus on finding out the relativity of mechanism of the method of purging fu-organs and incidence of apoplexy, exploring the advantages of prevention and treatment of apoplexy so as to lay a theoretical foundation for the prevention and treatment of apoplexy.In The Yellow Emperor's Internal Classic, apoplexy has other names like "Puji", "Pianku", "Bojue", and so on. In Han dynasty, the meaning of wind-stock in Synopsis of Prescriptions of Golden Cabinet is appreciable sameness to apoplexy in modern medicine. After Jin and Yuan dynasty, wind-stroke in TCM is nearly the same meaning like cerebral apoplexy. In 1992, on the nationwide conference on acute encephalopathy, this disease is formally named apoplexy. From then on, apoplexy has specific and clear conception which includes most cerebral blood vessels' diseases.the method of purging fu-organs in treating apoplexy is firstly appeared in Jin and Yuan Dynasties. The famous doctor Zhang Yuansu was the first person who had used SanYi Chengqi Decoction to treat apoplexy. Dr Liu Hejian used San Hua Decoction to treat persons who are in phase of "zhong zang". Dr Li Dongyuan used the method of purging fu-organs to treat people who are in phase of "zhong fu". Dr Wang Kentang in Ming Dynasty used the San Yi Chengqi Decoction to treat the patients combined with the symptoms of constipation, clenched jaw, and could-not-swallow. Dr Zhang Xichun in Qing Dynasty viewed that the method of purging fu-organs could descending perverse rise of stomach and purging liver-fire to treat the "congesting of cerebral" symptom. In Qing Dynasty the famous doctor Shen Jinao not only had the basic acknowledge of the excess syndrome of Fu, but also considered constipation or not as the diagnostic gist of the severity and the lapsing of pathology. Nowadays, medical experts use this method more flexibly, some only use single recipe, or single herb, others may use this method combined with other methods.There are plenty of the oretical basis to support us to prevent and treat apoplexy by the method of purging fu-organs. The large intestine has close relationship with the brain through body fluid and meridians and collaterals in TCM. And the relationship is more clearly proved by the theory of peptide in brain and intestines nervous system. In the clinic, the common intestinal diseases may also have certain relationship with the occurrence of brain's diseases. Besides, the method of purging fu-organs to prevent and treat apoplexy follows the principles of preventing diseases, treating the lower for upper diseases, treating the fu-organs for zang-organs' diseases and invigorating by purging of TCM.The method of purging fu-organs can also be used in the treatment of the inducing factors of apoplexy. That means in certain degree it can prevent the onset of apoplexy. These inducing factors include senility constitution, hypertension due to constipation, diabetes, smoking, drinking alcohol, and improper diet. The mechanism of repelling exogenous wind lies in its function of removing stale and inducing nourishment, regulating the function of spleen and stomach to promote the generation of qi and blood, so as to assist genuine qi. The mechanism of calming down endogenous wind lies in its function of clearing away stagnated fire, heat and phlegm from bowel to promote the blood circulatin so as to retain yin-fluid of body and keep a normal generation and distribution of qi, blood and body fluid.This method used in acute stage of apoplexy has the function of eliminating intestinal toxin, improving body metabolism, adjusting disorder of automatic nerve, lessening abdominal pressure and intracranial pressure, stabilizing blood pressure, and eliminating hydrocephalus. During the stage of sequelae, the method of purging fu-organs can not only improve the clinical symptoms, but also prevent recrudescence of apoplexy. After the literature search, I find the reasons to usethe method of purging fu-organs to treat apoplexy is that as follow: it can purge heat to regain consciousness, remove turbid to resuscitate;regulate qi and blood, arrest convulsion and tranquilize the mind;promote blood flow and remove blood stasis, activate collaterals for hemostasia;cure upper by treating lower, descend Lung qi to relieve asthma. ConclusionThe paper has made a detailed research on the relative theory of the method of purging fu-organs to prevent and treat apoplexy. In order to offer people the academic gist to prevent and treat apoplexy by the method of purging fu-organs in clinic, I discussed the problems in five aspects: ?to further expound the internal relations between the intestine and the brain, ?to expatiate the reasons and advantages of using the method of purging fu-organs from the inducements and pathogenesis of apoplexy, ?to clarify the advantages the method of purging fu-organs to treat apoplexy in each stage, @to put forward the meaning and principle of the method of the method of purging fu-organs during the treatment of apoplexy, ?to bring forward several suggestions and expectations on the research on preventing and treating apoplexy by the method of purging fu-organs.
