Objective: The traditional Chinese medical prescription"Tiaozhi Tongmai Granules"(TTG) has good treatment response at treating hyperlipidemia, which was proved in the past investigation. But the patients of the same syndrome type ("ZhengHou"in the Traditional Chinese Medicine) had different responses to the treatment, very characteristic. According to compare the difference of serum lipid level and treatment responses in the syndromes of phlegm-blood stasis in patients with hyperlipidemia, this investigation explore the relationship betwee polymorphism of apolipoprotein E gene and the basic lipid level and treatment responses.Methods: A 4-week, randomized single blind clinic trial was made, in which 96 patients with hyperlipidemia were divided into 2 groups randomly, with 53 patients in the treated group and 43 patients in the controlled group. The former took the TTG orally twice per day with 12g each time. The latter were given orally Xuezhikang Capsule(XC), 0.8g every time, twice per day. Thereafter the indexes about serum lipid, hemorheology, and"ZhengHou"in the Traditional Chinese Medicine were observed at baseline and terminal points.Results: The indexes above were analyzed trough SPSS10.0.(1)The total efficiency of TTG is 79.2%, and XC is 83.7%.(2)On the treatment responses of Traditional Chinese Medicine, the total efficiency of TTG(86.8%) has an advantage over that of XC(72.1%)(P<0.05).(3)The frequencies of E2/3 genotype (9.4%),E3/3 genotype(78.1%),E3/4 genotype(12.5%),andε2 allele(4.7%),ε3 allele(89.1%),ε4 allele(6.3%) in patients with hyperlipidemia has no significantly difference compared with those healthy people.(4)The basic level of TC and LDL-C is different significantly because of different ApoE genotype: the level of E3/4 genotype is higher than E3/3 genotype and E2/3. And TG has a higher level of E2/3 than E3/3 and E3/4;HDL-C has a lower level of E3/4 than E2/3and E3/3.(5)The patients of different ApoE genetypes has different responses to the treatment,and the change of LDL-C in treated group is different among three ApoE genetypes significantly: the change of E3/4 is higher significantly than it of E2/3 and E3/3. But the change of different genetypes in the controlled group is not different significantly.Conclusion: TTG has a similar total effect as XC in regulating blood lipid. The efficacy of TTG to improve the blood stasis has an advantage over that of XC.TTG has good effect in improving the syndrome.
