Different Frequency Power For Blood Glucose, Blood Lipids, Blood Rheology

Diabetes mellitus belongs to Xiaoke in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). There are tow types: type 1 and type 2 diabetes in modern medicine. The effect of Acupuncture and Moxibustion are one of the traditional therapeutic method of TCM for diabetes mellitus. This is experimental study which is on the effect of Electro acupuncture on the blood glucose and blood-lipid in diabetic rats. Objective: To observe and probe into the elements and the effect of different frequencies of Electro acupuncture on the blood glucose and blood-lipid in diabetic rats.Methods: Wistar rats were randomly divided into 6 groups,which are including normal control group, model control group, treatment of Electro acupuncture with high frequency group(30Hz), treatment of Electro acupuncture with middle frequency group(10Hz), treatment of Electro acupuncture with low frequency group(1Hz) and medication group(glibenclamide tablets). We imitated the model rats of DM induced by injecting Streptozotocin (STZ) into abdominal cavity by 50mg/kg. Acupuncture point we used were Shenshu(BL 23), Sanyinjiao(SP9) and Zusanli(ST 36).The treatment was given once each day, every 6 days take a 2-days rest .continuously for 2 weeks. Changes of weight, blood glucose, GSP, total cholesterol(TC), triglyceride (TG),high density lipoprotein (HDI-c), low density lipoprotein (LDL-c), very low density lipoprotein (VLDL-c), total viscosity of blood, aggregation of RBC and deformability of RBC before and after the treatment were observed. Result: (1) After treatment, the weight of all groups except the high frequency Electro acupuncture group was increased videntiy(p<0.05). (2) Following treatment, the blood glucose and GSP of low frequency Electro acupuncture group decreased evidentiy(p<0.05), also lower than the middle and the high frequency Electro acupuncture group.(3) High frequency Electro acupuncture group has a significantbetter effect on decreasing blood-lipid of diabetic rats than the low frequency Electro acupuncture group(p<0.01). TC> TG> LDL-c and VLDL-c which belong to the high frequency Electro acupuncture group also has a significantly difference from those of model control group (p<0.05).(4) High frequency Electro acupuncture group also has a good effect on hemorheology Compared with model control group (p<0.05).The blood viscosity of those diabetic rats in High frequency Electro acupuncture group lower significantly than those of the middle and the low frequency Electro acupuncture group rats (P<0.01).Conclusion: The experimental study showing that Electro acupuncture treatment can improve the diabetic rats symptoms and has a good effect on diabetic rats. But different frequency by Electro acupuncture can induce different effect. Low frequency Electro acupuncture can improve the function of P -cell in islets of Langerhans, consequently,, decrease blood glucose. The effect of High frequency Electro acupuncture emphasizes particularly on decreasing blood-lipid and improve hemorheology.
