Research On Seed Chemical Composition

Acanthopanax senticosus (Rupr. et Maxim.)Harrms has been prescribed in Chinese medicine for a long time. In recent years, some papers have reported the studies of the chemical constituents from the roots and the leaves of Acanthopanax senticosus (Rupr. et Maxim.) Harrms and the basic researches on the pharmacological action and the clinical use. But the report about the seeds of Acanthopanax senticosus (Rupr. et Maxim.) Harrms is less. In this paper, we work to have research for the chemical constituents. The seeds of Acanthopanax senticosus (Rupr. et Maxim.) Harrms was extracted with 75% ethanol (φ). The solvent extraction together with column chromatography was used for isolation of chemical constituents, and thirteen compounds were isolated and purified. By means of spectroscopic analysis and physiochemical properties, eleven of them were identified as 3-O-rhamnopyranosyl-(1-2)-arabinopyranosyl oleanolic acid(1), hederagenin-3-O-β-D-glucuronopyranoside(2), oleanolic acid-3-O-β-D-glucuronopyranoside(3), 3-O-arabinopy-ranoside oleanolic acid(4), 3-O- β -D-glucuronopyranosyl oleanolic acid 28-O- β -D-glucopyranosyl ester(5), hederagenin-3-O /?-D-glucuronopyranoside-6'-<9-Me ester(6), oleanolic acid(7), Savinin B (8), (-)-sesamin(9), β-sitosterol(10), daucosterol(11). Compounds (2), (3), (5) and (6) were isolated from Acanthopanax genus for the first time.
