Objective To detecte the protein expression of cyclooxygenase-2(COX-2) by tissaue microarray in the nine human frefent carcinoms, which included esophagus, gastric carcinoma, colorectal carcinoma, liver carcinoma, breast carcinoma, kidney carcinoma, lung carcinoma, thyroid carcinoma and bladder carcinoma. Methods A tissue microarray of nine frequent human carcinoma was analyzed immunohistochemically, using anti-COX-2 monoclonal antibody, and a statistical analysis was employed to answer the relationship with differentiated degree, infiltrative depth, lymph node metastasis. Results By ZM-1 tissue microarray paraffin block maker, a tissue paraffin block with 106 tissue sample, which included esophagus, gastric carcinoma, colorectal carcinoma, liver carcinoma, breast carcinoma, kidney carcinoma, lung carcinoma, thyroid carcinoma and bladder carcinoma. The positives of COX-2 in these tumors were 66.67% 66.67% 73.33%, 72.73% 70.00% 80.00% 64.29% 60.00% and 41.67% respectively, the expression of COX-2 is correlated with the metastasis of tumor embolus in the the primary hepatic carcinoma,(P<0.05); and is notcorrelated with the ER expression of breast carcinoma (P> 0.05) Conclusion COX-2 is generally high expression in the nine frequent human carcinoma The level of COX-2 expression has no correlation with lymph node metastasis and infiltrative depth. It can offer a new pathway for the treatment of carcinomas.
