| Aim: Analyze the power of six wave bands in sixteen cerebral regions of Brain Electrical Activity Mapping (BEAM), to explore the relationship between "Rigid-Gentle Syndrome Differentiation" of psychosomatic medicine of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and Brain Electrical Activity Mapping. Methods: Study group: 60 abnormal brain electrical activity mappings, including 15 mappings of the patients of Excess Disorder of Rigid Syndrome; 15 mappings of the patients of Deficiency Disorder of Rigid Syndrome; 15 mappings of the patients of Excess Disorder of Gentle Syndrome and 15 mappings of the patients of Deficiency Disorder of Gentle Syndrome. Control group: 15 normal brain electrical activity mappings. Compare the power of every brain wave band in sixteen cerebral regions among four syndrome groups' mappings and normal mappings. The data was analyzed by SPSS13.0 and the statistical methods are descriptive analysis, One-way ANOVA, Independent-samples T-test, and so on.Results:①There is no significant difference (p>0.05) in BEAM among the patients of Excess Disorder of Rigid Syndrome, Deficiency Disorder of Rigid Syndrome, Excess Disorder of Gentle Syndrome and Deficiency Disorder of Gentle Syndrome.②Compared with normal BEAM, the power of 8wave band of the four syndrome groups had no significant difference.③Compared with normal BEAM, the power of 8 wave band of four syndrome groups had a ascending tendency in all cerebral regions, significantly in 11 regions(p<0.05) , especially in left hemisphere.④Compared with normal BEAM, the power ofα1 wave band of the four syndrome groups had a descending trend in all regions, significantly in central, middle and behind temporal, and occipital regions; but the groups of Excess Disorder of Rigid Syndrome and Deficiency Disorder of Rigid Syndrome had no significant difference (p> 0.05) ;the groups of Excess Disorder of Gentle Syndrome and Deficiency Disorder of Gentle Syndrome had significant differences(p<0.05) .⑤Compared with normal BEAM, the power of a2 wave band of the four syndrome groups had a obviously descending trend in all regions, extremely significantly in almost all regions(p<0.01) .⑥Compared with normal BEAM, the power of rapid wave bands ofβ1andβ2 descend, obviously in all regions except anterior part of the frontal and temporal regions. Conclusions: This study shows that the patients of psychosomatic diseases have an ascending tendency of 8 wave band; a descending, generalization and forward tendency of awave band and a downward tendency ofβwave band. And all above results reflect the abnormalities in brain function and demonstrate that the patients of Rigid Syndrome caused by liver's over dispersing function and the patients of Gental Syndrome caused by liver's insufficient dispersing function have abnormal brain electrical activity. This study indicates that negative stimuli of psycho-social factors can affect cerebral function, which causes organic disorders or process of pathologic physiology. This study shows that there is no significant difference in BEAM among the patients of four syndrome groups. This study provides objective index and evidences for the diagnosis, treatment and evaluation of therapeutic effect of TCM psychosomatic disorders. This study provides the brain electrophysiological evidence for the TCM psychosomatic medicine theory "if the mentality is normal, the organs will function normally. This is the foundamental principle to keep good health and a long life" and "if the mentality is abnormal, it is very dangerous to the twelve organs including itself."... |
