Dracocephalum tanguticum Maxim., a well-known Chinese medicine in folk, belongs to the genus Dracocephalum in family Labiatae. Local people use it to cure various disorders such as inflammation diseases and hypertony. In order to study the liposoluble constituents of Dracocephalum tanguticum Maxim. Fourteen compounds were isolated and repeatedly purified by silica g-el column chromatography. Eleven compounds were identified by spectral analysis. They were 3,7-dimethyl-3-carbethoxy-l,5-octadiene-7-ol(l), 3β,20α-dihydro-xyurs-21(22)-en-28-oic acid(2), uvaol(3), n-tritriacontane(4), betulin(5), oleanolic acid(6), ursolic acid(7), betulinic acid(8), stigmasterol(9),β-sitosterol(10),β-sito-stero-3-O-glucoside(ll). Compound 1 and 2 were firstly isolated from this genus. Compound 3,4,9 were isolated from this plant for the first time.
