A 1:1 Matched Case-control Study, Risk Factors Of Gluteal Muscle Contracture

【OBJECTIVE】To study risk factors of buttocks' muscle contracture ofHunan province and to explore relationship of injection of 2% BenzylAlcohol injection diluted Penicillin and buttocks' muscle contracture byusing Pharmacoepidemiology's way.【METHODS】A 1:1 matched case-control study was carried out byusing questionnaire. The patients of buttocks' muscle contracturewere collected from Xiangya Hospital from January.2005 toFebruary.2006. At the same time, the patients of no buttocks'muscle contracture in Xiang-Ya hospital were matched. The content ofstudy included:①the patients' general condition.②Anamnesis,traumatism and disease.③The muscle injection and the time ofcontinuous injection,the sort of drug etc.④other correlativecircumstances: as age,the sort of injector and the mode ofdisinfection etc.SPSS 10.0 was used to code and enter the data.Univariate logistic regression analysis were performed for screening thesignificant risk factors of buttocks' muscle contracture. Multivariatelogistic regression analysis were performed by Stata 8.0 for screeningthe significant risk factors for buttocks' muscle contracture.【RESULTS】Total 50 patients of buttocks' muscle contracture weresurveyed, matched with 50 patients of no buttocks' muscle contracturein Xiang-Ya hospital at the same time. Univariate logistic regressionanalysis indicated that the scar habitus,0-6 years old suffered frominfection disease,0-3 years old continuous buttocks' muscle injectionand the time of continuous buttocks' muscle injection exceeded fourdays,the injection of 2% Benzyl Alcohol injection diluted Penicillin,buttocks emerged sclerosis while buttocks' muscleinjection,admixture injected buttocks' muscle,glass injector,ferv. glass injector using water ordinarily etc sixteen factors were allrelated to the buttocks' muscle constrature.Stata 12.0 was used to perform multivariate logistic regressionanalysis. The significant risk factors of the buttocks' muscleconstracture were the longest continuous muscle injection happening at0-3 years old,injection of 2% Benzyl Alcohol injection dilutedPenicillin.【CONCLUSIONS】The longest continuous muscle injectionhappening at 0-3 years old and injection of 2% Benzyl Alcoholinjection diluted Penicillin were risk factors of the buttocks' muscleconstrature.
