Gluteal Muscle Contracture Epidemiology Investigation Of Children And Teen-agers Of Hongjiang City

[Objective] To study the incidence of children's gluteal muscle contracture (GMC) and its related risk factors in western Hunan Province. Comparison of the children's incidence ten years before and after 2000 when stopped using 2% methanol benzene solvent intramuscular injection.[Methods]In October 2009,a census was made among 2,000 people aged 4-17 in Hongjiang, Huaihua. We made a GMC epidemiological survey and trained 4 medical staff to uniform assessment standards survey project, In Oct.12-23,we investigated two primary schools and two middle schools in Hongjiang. The study divides questionnaires and physical examination.The investigative steps, including:a first step was a questionnaire circulated to understand the general situationâ‘ :name, sex, age, family name, address, telephone.â‘¡past history:gluteal muscle injection history, history of trauma.â‘¢Examination:the GMC is divided into mild, moderate, severe.The second step was to contact the positive people's parents to learn more about the relevant situation:injection causes,primary vaccination age, number of injections, history of trauma situation, family history and so on. The third step is to visit the township hospitals, village clinics to understand the gluteal muscle injection drug type, compatibility, injection and sterilization methods.After completion of the investigation, single statistical factor analysis,chi-square test and multivariate conditional logistic regression analysis by SPSS11.5 to identify significant risk factors.[Result]Total 2067 people aged 4-17 were surveyed(1058 male,1009 female).205 of 929 people aged 4-9 (born after 2000)contact GMC,the incidence rate was 22.07% (205/929), in which the male incidence rate was 22.95% (109/475), female incidence rate was 21.15% (96/454).Physical examination revealed mild GMC was 155 people, accounting for 16.68%(155/929), moderate and severe contracture was 50 people, accounting for 5.38%(50/929).327 of 1138 people aged 10-17(born before 2000)contact GMC,the incidence rate was 28.73% (327/1138), in which the male incidence rate was 30.87%(180/583), female incidence rate was 26.49%(147/555).Physical examination revealed mild GMC was 209 people, accounting for 18.37%(209/1138), moderate and severe contracture was 50 people, accounting for 10.37% (118/1138).[Conclusion]In Hongjiang, Huaihua region, the overall incidence of GMC rate was 25.74 between 4-17 years old people, which accounted for 17.61% mild contracture,8.1% moderate and severe contracture.This study was a preliminary understanding of the epidemic situation of GMC in Hongjiang and offer a further understanding the etiology and treatment of GMC.
