Objective To obtain the allele frequencies of the two novel Y-STR loci (DYS713, DYS723)and discuss the possibility of applying them to forensic science by investigating these Y-STR lociin shanxi Han ethnic group. Methods 2 novel Y-STR loci were retrieved from the GDB database and amplified with PCR.The products of PCR were analyzed with polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis. Each allele ofthese 2 Y-STR loci was sequenced and the allele ladders were constructed. Alleles of theseY-STR loci were nominated according to recommendations of the International Society ofForensic Genetics. Results In our population study, There are total 6 and 5 alleles in DYS713 and DYS723respectively. The gene diversity of DYS713, DYS723 was 0.7370,0.6618 respectively. There arenot amplified products among females. The typing results of different tissues from one individualwere identical. mutations were not found from 20 father-offspring pairs. Conclusion All of the 2 Y-STR loci are genetic polymoephic. It shows the DYS713 andDYS723 in Shanxi Han population is high valuable in the application of forensic medicine andpopulation genetics. They are benificial to the test of male-female mixtures and paternityidentification.
