Eiemene Injection / 5-fu, Biochemical Regulation Scheme For The Treatment Of Gastrointestinal Cancer Clinical Efficacy Observed

This dissertation is composed of two parts the summaries of documents and a clinic research.Part one:the summaries of documentsThere are two summaries of documents.The first one reviewed the advances in basic research and clinical study in elemene injection .It concludes the cognition of traditional Chinese medicine,preclinical research,clinical research,prevention and cure of adverse reaction .Elemene is an extraction of Chinese herbal medicine e zhu .It can not only eliminate the stagnant and activate the blood ,but also disperse the stasis and acesodyne.The pharmacology reseach showed a great effect on killing different kinds of tumor cells,while the clinical reseach also showed an excellent curative effect on many kinds of malignant tumor or pleural effusions and ascites.It is worthily recommended in the clinical application.The second one reviwed the action mechanism and clinical reseach of the 5-Fu biochemical modulation (BCM) therapy all over the world recent years.BCM usually combine more than two kinds of drugs,of which the interaction was used ,can increase efficacy and reduce toxic substance.This scheme adapt to the old and frail who show poor tolerance to high dose chemotherapy.Part two :clinical studyObjective: To study the effects of elemene injection combined with 5-Fu biochemical modulation therapy on clinical symptoms,functions of anti-cancer and immunization in gastrointestinal cancer. Methods: 55 cases were randomized into two groups,there were 20 cases in Group A which treated by chemotherapy (5-Fu/DDP)for one course ,while there were 35 cases in Group B which treated by elemene injection combined with chemotherapy (elemene injection + 5-Fu/DDP) for one course. BRt,function of liver and kidney,CD4/CD8 and activity of NK celles were examined before and after treatment,the changes of size of cancer focuses,clinical symptoms,qualities of life,toxic and side effects of chemotherapy were recorded and compared. Results: The relief rates of cancer focus (CR+PR) in Group A and Group B were 25% and 37.1% respectively and with significant difference (p﹤0.05). The responses of clinical symptoms,Qualities of life and immune function in Group B were over Group A's and with significant difference (p﹤0.01). Conclusion: the efficacy in Group B (elemene injection + 5-Fu/DDP) was higher than that of Group A (5-Fu/DDP),elemene injection combined with 5-Fu biochemical modulation therapy could reduce toxic and side effects of chemotherapy,enhance immune function and improve the quality of life.
