Preliminary Study On TCM Syndrome Types In Sjogren's Syndrome

Purpose We collect clinical data from Sjogren syndrome patients,to judge their syndrome types of TCM.The statistical analysis would be valuable to the further research of classifying Sjogren syndrome in syndromes of TCM.Methods We recorded 144 patient's data,such as sex,age,course of disease,sign and symptom,etc.from Dongfang Hospital,Dongzhimen Hospital and Wangjing Hospital, including outpatients and in-patients from 3/2006 to 2/2009.Then we classify their syndromes of TCM and do the statistical analysis.Results 144 patients.There are 14 males(9.72%) and 130 females(90.28%),the youngest is 31,the oldest is 74,the average age is 57.There are 64 yin deficiency syndrome(44.44%),27 yang deficiency syndrome(18.75%),16 both qi and yin deficiency syndrome(11.11%),16 qi and blood stasis syndrome(11.11%),18 fulminant dryness syndrome(13.89%),3 damp-heat syndrome(2.08%),32 yin deficiency and blood stasis syndrome(22.22%),taking 50%in yin deficiency syndrome,16 yang deficiency and blood stasis syndrome(11.11%),taking 59.30% in yang deficiency syndrome,12 fulminant dryness and blood stasis syndrome(8.33%),taking 66.67%in fulminant dryness syndrome,3 fulminant dryness and yin deficiency syndrome (2.08%),taking 16.67%in fulminant dryness syndrome.All the blood stasis syndrome cases are 83(57.64%).Conclusion There could be yin deficiency syndrome,both qi and yin deficiency syndrome, yang deficiency syndrome,qi and blood stasis syndrome,fulminant dryness syndrome, damp-heat syndrome in Sjogren syndrome.Blood stasis could exist in all the syndromes.So the treatment should be moisturizing dryness,invigorating qi and nourishing yin,warming yang to moisturize dryness,activating qi and promoting blood circulation,detoxicating to moisturize dryness,clearing away heat and draining of dampness.And the therapy of promoting blood circulating and removing blood stasis should be used through the whole treatment.
