In this research 14 compounds were isolated from the acid hydrolyti-c products of the stems, leaves, the alabastrums and the fruits of Panax quinquefolium L. by modern technologies of extraction,isolation,purific-ation,identification,such as macroporous absorption resin(MAR),silica gel-column chromatography. The structures of 8 compounds have been established and identified on the basis of physico-chemical and spectrogr-aphic evidence. And 8 compounds which were isolated from the acid hy-drolytic products of the stems and leaves of Panax quinquefolium L. we-re 20(S)-panaxadiol(Ⅰ),20(S)-protopanaxadiol(Ⅱ),20(R)-protopanaxadiol(Ⅲ),20(S)-panaxatriol(Ⅳ),24(R)-Ocotillol(Ⅴ),20(R)-protopanaxatriol(Ⅵ),20(R)-dammarane-3?,12?,20,25-tetrol(Ⅶ),20(R)-dammarane-3β,6α,12β,20,25-pentol(Ⅷ);7 compoundsⅠ,Ⅲ,Ⅳ,Ⅴ,Ⅵ,Ⅶ,Ⅷwere isolated fro-m the acid hydrolytic products of the alabastrums and also the fruits of Panax quinquefolium L. For the first time,CompoundsⅠ~Ⅷwere the d-erivates of the aglycones of ginsenosides, isolated from the acid hydroly-tic products of the stems, leaves, the alabastrums and the fruits of Pana-x quinquefolium L.;CompoundsⅣ,ⅦandⅧwere isolated from Panax quinquefolium L. for the first time;CompoundsⅦwere discovered and reported that it was the derivate of the aglycone of protopanoxadiol gins-enoside,having the conspicuous anti-cancer activity for the first time fro-m the fruits of Panax ginseng. This study use the methed of HPLC-ELSD to assay the active constit-utents of the acid hydrolytic products of the roots, the stems and leaves, the alabastrums and the fruits of Panax quinquefolium L. for the first ti-me,and the results show that 24(R)-Ocotillol is the highest in all hydro-lysates of the different parts of Panax quinquefolium L. and the contents of these active constitutents of the hydrolysates in the aerial parts are hi-gher than underground part-the roots.
