Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) is increasing in prevalence worldwide and is currently estimated to affect more population of the world. Traditional Chinese medical science has a long history of treating xiaokebing which has been recognized as diabetes mellitus. Syndrome differentiation is the essence of Chinese medicine, and the basic method and key technologies of treating diabetes. Syndrome differentiation of science, accuracy and objectivity is the key of promoting the further development of Chinese medicine. Therefore, classification for the objective differentiation of diabetic research, has become a hot topic of domestic and foreign scholars.Literature review section of this article is completed by consulting the literature in recent years. To systematic review and outlook the current studies of type 2 diabetes research of objective differentiation. And to investigate the Chinese and Western research on the progress of type 2 diabetes. Objective:The paper systematically retrospected and analysed pathogenic factors, pathological changes of type 2 diabetes, investigated the relationship between type 2 diabetes based on syndrome differentiation in TCM and objective indicators, diabetic complications. In order to try to provide guidance for clinical treatment. Methods:We use epidemiologic investigation methods. We collected 169 cases in Guang'anmen Hospital Endocrinology from January 1,2008 to October 31,2009. All cases were in hospital. Then to differentiate the syndrome of 169 cases with type 2 diabetes, and to divide them into three groups:yin-deficiency-heat-superfluity-syndrome, Qi and yin-deficiency-syndrome, yin and yang-deficiency-syndrome. We extract their condition changes, including symptoms, results of medical check-up, diabetic complications. Normal controlled group is in the Guang'anmen Hospital medical centers for examination of healthy subjects, all volunteers had normal physical and chemical indicators, found no organic disease.Afterwards, the indicators are compared among the four groups to discuss their relevance.Rosults:1. Age:to compare trends in three TCM Differentiation Syndromes:Qi and yin-deficiency-syndrome,yin and yang-deficiency-syndrome> yin-deficiency-heat-superfluity-syndrome, and the difference is very marked(p<0.05 or p<0.01). Qi and yin-deficiency-syndrome and yin and yang-deficiency-syndrome have no significant difference (p>0.05)2. Fasting blood-glucose (FBG),hemoglobin glycosylated (HbAlc) and body Mass Index (BMI):have no significant difference in the three TCM Differentiation Syndromes (p>0.05).3. Course of diseases:to compare trends in three TCM Differentiation Syndromes:yin and yang-deficiency-syndrome> Qi and yin-deficiency-syndrome> yin-deficiency-heat-superfluity-syndrome, and the difference is significant (p<0.05 or p<0.01).4. Lipid metabolism and blood uric acid (UA):the levels of lipid and UA are significantly higher in all TCM types of T2DM compared with those of normal controlled group (p<0.05 or p<0.01).With the development of the three syndromes, there is an increase in the levels of cholesterol (CHO), triglyceride (TG), low density lipoprotein (LDL) and very low density lipoprotein (VLDL).At the same time, there is a decline in the level of high density lipoprotein (HDL)5. C reactive protein (CRP):to compare trends in three TCM Differentiation Syndromes:yin and yang-deficiency-syndrome> Qi and yin-deficiency-syndrome> yin-deficiency-heat-superfluity-syndrome, there are significant differences (p<0.05 or p<0.01).6. Diabetic complications:with the development of the there syndromes, there is an increase in the incidence of various diabetic complications. Conclusion:The results suggest that with the development of the three syndromes, there is an increase in the disturbance level of a number of objective indicators and the incidence of various diabetic complications. Shows that a number of objective indicators and diabetic complications have close links with Traditional Chinese Medicine Syndromes, and help to objective differentiation. Also suggested that in the treatment of diabetes, in addition to monitoring blood glucose control, periodic monitoring of blood lipids, uric acid, C-reactive protein is very important. At the same time as soon as possible using the method of combining Chinese and Western Medicine to full control of blood glucose, lipid, uric acid, can reduce and slow down the incidence of diabetic complications and improve the quality of life of diabetic patients.
