Lobelia genus (Lobelia L.) plants were mostly distributed in tropical and subtropical regions,which has 380 species in the whole world and more than 20 species in China. It is mainly produced in the south of the Yangtze River in China. Lobelia is the whole plant with roots of Campanulaceae Lobelia genus plants Lobelia sessilifolia Lamb. Main producing areas are northwest Yunnan, northern Guangxi, Zhejiang, Taiwan, Shandong, Hebei, Liaoning, Jilin and Heilongjiang. According to the "Chinese herbal medicine" ,Recorded in this book, Lobelia can relieve cough and reduce sputum, remove heat and eliminate toxins ,and have diuretic effect, In this paper, we study the chemical constituents of alkaloids. In order to clarify the material basis for efficacy, Has conducted the system research to it by modern chromatographic techniques and spectroscopic methodsIn this study, the whole plant lobelia(Lobelia sessilifolia Lamb.) as the research object, five piperidine alkaloids were isolated. by ultraviolet spectrum(UV),mass spectrum (HR-ESI-MS and ESI-MS) and nuclear magnetic resonance spectrum (1H-NMR, 13C-NMR, HMQC, HMBC) spectrum and other modern methods and techniques, identification of their structures,Two of them are new compounds, named as the New lobelia alkaloid A and New lobelia alkaloid B; The other three compounds were isolated from this plant for the first time, they are 8-ethyl-10-phenyl-norlobelionol, Norlobelanine and Norlobelanidine.In order to search for new active ingredients, we use the Methyl-Thiazol- Tetrozolium (MTT) to test the growth inhibition activity of five alkaloids compounds and Lobelia alkaloids on Spc-A1, Hep-G2, MCF-7 cancer cell. The results show that, Norlobelanine has significant cytotoxic activity, which have the obvious inhibitory action to three kinds of tumor cell line, this study provides further development of Lobelia with anti-tumor active lead compounds.Has carried on the qualitative analysis to Lobelia 's root, the stem, the leaf, flower's total alkaloids by liquid chromatography-mass spectrum technique (HPLC-DAD-ESI/MS/MS), and found in four different organs contained basically the same chemical constituents of alkaloids. However, the relative content of each compound are different. Has carried on the analysis to 21 common peaks of UV and MS ,which exist in four different organs, and has carried on the preliminary extrapolation to the structures according to the rule of Lobelia alkaloids fragmentation pattern, ten alkaloids may be new compounds, eleven structures are known compounds.
