Objective To detect the expression and significance of RECK (reversion-inducing cysteine-rich protein with Kazal motifs), MMP-2 (matrix metalloproteinase-2), as well as their correlations in osteosarcoma and to investigate their roles in metastasis and development of the tumor. Methods PV-6000 immunohistochemistry was used to measure the expression of RECK and MMP-2, in 30samples of osteosarcoma tissue selected from paraffin wax-embodied specimens with complete clinicopathological data, and another 10 cases of osteochondroma tissue. Results The expression rate of RECK in osteosarcoma was low (30.0%), The expression rate of RECK in osteochondroma was high (80.0%), The difference between them was significant (x2=5.76, P<0.05).The expression rate of MMP-2 in osteosarcoma was high (76.7%), The expression rate of MMP-2 in osteochondroma was low(10.0%), The difference between them was also significant (x2=11.25, P<0.05), The expression of RECK was negatively correlated with the expression of MMP-2 in osteosarcoma(r=-0.84, P<0.05)。Conclusions RECK is lowly expressed in osteosarcoma, but MMP-2 is highly expressed. RECK, MMP-2 may be served as the markers in the estimation of metastasis and dissemination of osteosarcoma. |
