Purpose: Acupuncture is playing a more and more important role in the treatment of stroke, especially eye-acupuncture. Since eye-acupuncture was invented by Professor Peng Jingshan in 1973, it has been widely used in clinical treatment. By the 99mTc-ECDSPECT brain perfusion imaging technique, this experiment probes the mechanism of action of stroke treatment through observing the impact of eye-acupuncture on rCBF, with the ischemic paralytics as objects of study.Material and method: Fifteen patients were chosen from Neurology of the Fourth Affiliated Hospital of Chinese Medical Sciences University and Affiliated Hospital of Liaoning University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, who were diagnosed ACI by the western medicine and stroke-meridian by Chinese medicine.Numbered, recorded and observed the selected patients. They took 400mg of potassium perchlorate 30 minutes before the injection of developer. In the first five minutes, they were closed of audio and video. 30 minutes later, they were mainlined 99mTc-ECD. Then we collected the dynamic images of cerebral blood flow and the images of faultage 15 minutes after the injection.Determined the method of treatment according to the syndrome differentiation of Chinese medicine. There were five types: deficiency of vital energy and blood stasis, obstruction of collateral caused by windphlegm, wind formation from yin deficiency, anemogenous phlegm,phlegm-heat and fu-organ excess. According to the principle of dialectical acupoint selection, we selected the main acupoints of eye-acupuncture: upper and lower of tri-jiao. The supporting acupoints: spleen area and cardiac area for the type of deficiency of vital energy and blood stasis, liner area and spleen area for the type of obstruction of collateral caused by windphlegm, liner area and kidney area for the type of wind formation from yin deficiency, liner area and kidney area for the type of anemogenous phlegm, area and large intestine area for the type of phlegm-heat and fu-organ excess. Neddle retaining 20minures, no Manipulation. After the eye-acupuncture, we made the examination of SPETC following the last step and recorded the result, calculated the change of brain rCBF with ocular estimate and semiquantitative analysis and analyzed the difference between them with statistics.Results:1.Ocular estimate: After eye acupuncture treatment, eight regions in the brain of patients showed the distribution of radioactivity uptake, and the radioactivity uptake in lesions of patients is more obvious than before.2.Semi-quantitative method: After eye acupuncture treatment, the average of eye-acupuncture therapy in patients with cerebral blood flow velocity was significantly higher than before. The regional cerebral blood flow of patients has significant changes before and after the eye-acupuncture. The uptake ratios of cerebral blood flow ROI tested from 8 regions in patients' brain has significantly increased. The uptake ratios of cerebral blood flow ROI was much higher than other regions.Conclusion:1.Eye-acupuncture therapy can significantly improve the cerebral circulation of patients with ischemic stroke.2.Eye-acupuncture therapy can improve the cerebral blood supply mechanism by improving the brain lesion penumbra surrounding the blood supply.3.The immediate effect of Eye-acupuncture treatment for ischemic stroke is effective.
