The 21st century is also referred to as the Information Era, which best manifests itself in the outburst of a variety of information. In the meantime, ever since China's opening up to the outside world policy in the late 70s, there grows an urgent need for China to get in touch with the outside world. The 4th information-oriented translation upsurge has come under the abovementioned circumstances, featuring both literature translation and pragmatic translation. Especially the latter one with its focus on cross-cultural communication has taken almost as primary a position as that of literature translation in this field. As the translation industry itself is being more systemized and professionalized, it is calling for more qualified translators to get on board.Under the spotlight that has been shed on the general studies on pragmatic translations these years, this thesis attempts to explore the strategies adopted in the translations of webpages of corporate profiles under the framework of German School's Functionalist translation theories which mainly consist of three parts, namely Skopos theory, translation behavior theory and text typology theory.First of all, the author categorised the most common translation errors in current translations of corporate profiles, and divided them into macroscopic translation errors and microscopic translation errors.?The former includes functional translation errors and cultural translation errors and the latter includes grammatical and spelling errors and Chinglish etc. Then, the author conducted a systematic analysis on all the errors mentioned above and proposed her suggestive strategies, namely, expounding plus modifying strategy, zero translation strategy and rewritting strategy. However, in order to fulfill the task of translation, apart from all the strategies mentioned above, the translator's role of"coordinating"among all the other parties according to translation behavior theory is also stressed. In the new wave of the times, professional translator should regard himself or herself as the specialist in terms of word-processing and cross-cultural communication instead of blindly following the source text. The roles of the translator are defined as a) crystalise the skopos of the target text before the process of translation; b) depending on his specialities, the translator then analyse the information blocks in the source texts, and then make decisions of deleting, modifying, expounding and explanation etc, and under certain circumstances, the translator even needs to rewrite the source text; c) the translator plays the leading role in the task of translation, and coordinates among all parties, provide consulting and guidance when necessary. All the efforts paid by the translator in this regard all add to values of the target texts.
