The objective of this study is Jionji Temple in Chang'an City, the Big Wild Goose Pagoda as the center of the visual landscape. As the important royal temple buildings, Big Wild Goose Pagoda is Chang'an city's visual landscape from religious space, political space and secular space. It is not only the important position where Xuanzang realized his religious ideals, also the construction which locates on the axis of the new palace area, to participate new power space in the Tang Dynasty. The essential issue in this article is:How did the visual landscape of Big Wild Goose Pagoda form and change under both religion and kingship affection?This article synthesizes previous materials from art history, calligraphy history, architectural history and literary history, its commission as Jionji the Big Wild Goose Pagoda as the center part of the overall visual landscape, including:the shape and Spatial location of Big Wild Goose Pagoda, Holy teach sequence, Monuments, Underlying all lintel and "Wild Goose Pagoda nomination. " This artical will restore the closely connection between visual landscape and the Wild Goose Pagoda, and study the function and significance in religious space and political space of Chang'an City.
