This thesis is a study of British theologian William Tyndale in the16th century. It attempts to discuss what role the man has played in the British history by examining his religious ideas and religion-oriented political thoughts. There are four chapters. The first chapter introduces the historical context in which Tyndale lived and his life experiences.Chapter two and chapter three explore his religious thought and political ideology respectively. Chapter four traces Tyndalevs influence in the history.Tyndale is known as the "Father of the English Bible". He was the first one to translate the original Hebrew and Greek Bible into English version, which was published as well. Nevertheless, except being anoutstanding interpreter, Tyndale was also amid the earliest Protestants, whose religious ideas have had a huge impact on the English Reformation and even the Puritanism doctrine. Therefore, to make a study of Tyndale’s ideas can contribute greatly to our understanding of the16th-century British history.
