From Zhu Yunming, Wen Zhengming In The Title Of The Ming Dynasty Ups And Downs To See The Power Of Art Criticism, Cultural Intervention

My thesis focuses on commenting on the two leading calligraphy masters of Wu School in mid Ming Dynasty: Wen Zhengming and Zhu Yunming. Although they have obvious differences in various aspects of their Calligraphy art works, they match each other more or less in overall level. However, their reputation has went through up and downs in comparison in three different historical period during the Ming Dynasty. My thesis tries to analyze and discover the culture power behind the complicated phenomenon of the diversed comments on Wen Zhengming and Zhu Yunming by the Ming critictics, and to raise the following reflection: whether the existence of Art is just as pure as itself, or it is under the control of culture power.
