Family is the earliest place where we touch and study knowledge. With the development of the new century and the process of high technology, child rearing attracts more and more attention as the basic of the education system. The specialists who do the research about global problems pointed out that with rapid industrialization, especially the onset of the information age or the computerized civilization, in order to improve the society, people have to face more and more common moral issues. To keep the stable development of society and economy, the quality education of citizens should be emphasized in the world. The role of child rearing is very important. At the same time, the concepts of child rearing have expanded to include, personality development, psychological training, social and moral education, a respect for the law, civic awareness and environmental consciousness. From setting up the goals and choosing the ways to structure moral education all nations always try to pay attention to the overall problems, but work from the individual parts. They start with the details embracing "one step at a time" principle. It is essential that everything begins with child rearing and the importance of the basic educational ideas previously mentioned cannot be over emphasized. Now, most Chinese families pay more attention to the education of their children, but parents do not have a grasp of the newer concepts of child rearing. To educate their children, especially the only one child in the family, parents tend to focus on their every need and often spoil them in the process. Furthermore, they teach the way they were taught by their parents. It has a negative effect particularly on teenagers as noted in the document. This situation already has drawn attention from all circles of a society. At the same time, it also helps and encourages families to set up valid concepts about child rearing, and to grasp the scientific methods on the subject, thereby improving the education of children. The objective of this paper is to analyze by researching and comparing both the differences and the things in common between American and Chinese child rearing practices. By highlighting these differences, Chinese parents stand to gain from the latest methods that have been developed and proven successful in the West.
