Mid-Capital of Jin, says Beijing now, had superior geographical environment which lifted its political and military status up. As the capital of Jin dynasty, it had a history of 61 years and played a significant role in the progress of Beijing city. This thesis looks at Mid-Capital of Jin from historical military geography perspective and makes proper use of history, geography and related theory and methods. By the aid of historical maps, topography, garrison, traffic, passes, commissariat and main wars in the Mid-Capital area are studied and the relationship between military and geography are expounded in this article.This thesis is divided into following six parts:In the introduction, the origin and meaning of ontology research are expatiated, and the time and space limits of this thesis are defined.The first chapter introduces the general situation of nature and human geography, including the landform, population and administrative divisions.In the second chapter, the garrison in all areas, including the city construction, deployment and pass importantly defense, is studied mainly. The standing army WuWeiJun, bodyguard army and Hanweijun garrisoned the city, sometimes was stationed on standby. Besides the regular army, there were Sheliangjun and Jiujun. Apart from the capital city, Juyongguan, Gubeikou, Changping, Shunzhou, Tongzhou, Liangxiang, etc. are also the defensive centers.In the third chapter, the traffic and commissariat are studied. In all kinds of the traffic, there were the land transport and the waterway transport. The land transport had the capital city as the center and the waterway transport had Tongzhou as the center. The commissariat is mainly related to foods, weapons and horses. Foods were partly made in the local area, partly transported from Hebei and Shandong by the waterway transport. Weapons were mainly produced in Mid-Capital area and there were a whole set of policies to ensure its quality. Horses were feed by the nation and professional herdsmen, sometimes were collected from the folk.In the fourth chapter, the main wars in the Mid-Capital area are introduced, and by the aid of history maps, the relationship between the end of the war and the geography is studied.The last part is a brief summary of the full text.
