The Muslim's Funeral is the first epical work in contemporary Chinese literary history. It performs the survival circumstance and inner feelings world of hui people, especially the modern urban hui people. Based on the description of lots of great changes and the tragic fate of three generations in a hui Muslim's family during 60 years,this novel strives to truthfully present the difficult situationin of modern urban hui people' in the sharp collision and integration between islamic culture and Chinese culture. Besides, it also shows the exotic islamic culture and the wonderful hui culture perfectly.On the basis of previous studies, this paper tries to make the plot about Liang Yi-qing and Han Xin-yue's funeralas in The Muslim's funeral as entry points, then primarily discusses the cultural value and artistic value about the funeral writing in the novel.In chapter one, we analyzes the funeral writing in the novel, namely the description about Liang Yi-qing and Han Xin-yue's funeralas in the text, based on which, we summarizes the main characters of Muslim's funeral.Chapter two demonstrats that Han Yinyue's funeral expressed the conflict and fusion between the modern humanistic ideas and Islamic religious faith, affirms that Islamic culture still has intrinsic rationality and irreplaceable value when it encouters the modern civilization, then reveals the folk value and ideological value about the funeral writing in The Muslim's Funeral from the angle of folklore and culturology.Chapter three primarily discusses the artistic value about the funeral writing in The Muslim's Funeral. The author is good at using the funeral writing as the beginning and orgasm of fictional description, to build the tragedy atmosphere, promote the commencement and development of the the story, reveal the character's ethnic personality, and demonstrate the beauty in the national customs.
