Application is the fundamental hernieneutical problem that rediscovered by Gadamer. In the early tradition of hermeneutics, the problem of application is existed. Romantics recognized the inner unity of understanding (intelligendi) and interpretation (explicandi), but they forgot application. So Gadamer gain back the application in the condition of the inner unity of understanding and interpretation. In Gadamer's point, as the exemplar of the rediscovery of application, legal hermeneutics showed the process of understanding, interpretation and application as entity vividly. Furthermore, the problem of application is a flash of Gadamer's Practical Philosophy during his early times. We can learn the trend of Gadamer's Practical Philosophy clearly by the analysis of application. On the other hand, Gadamer hoped the research of Aristotle's Ethnics would provide the right boundary of application. It likes Phronesis more than episteme or techne. It is no longer a method, but in complete harmony with understanding and interpretation.Thirdly, we can locate application and guarantee it in Aristotle'Ethnics. On the one hand, we will learn what ever is meant by application from the analysis of Phronesis in Ethnics. On the other hand, we try to find echo between Aristotale's legal theories and Gadamer's legal hermeneutics.At last, we will see three discussions around Gadamer. Betti criticized the subjectivity of Gadamer. Habermas disagreed with tradition in Gadamer's theory. Derrida doubted the possibility of understanding.
