Teachers are one of the subjects of educational course, and an important element that influences the educational course, result and the curriculum reform. In an imposing array, New English Curriculum for Chinese Primary Schools and Junior Middle Schools is carried out in the whole country. The shortage of the qualified English teachers has hampered the advance of the reform. Therefore, to normal universities which are considered as the cradle of future teachers, how to cultivate English teachers who master the high qualities has been a top issue. It is urgent and necessary to make deeper research on the cultivation of teachers'comprehensive qualities in the pre-service education preparation under the background of the curriculum reform. Teacher education involves pre-service education and on-the-job education, and the former is considered as the foundation and prerequisite. The paper focuses on the cultivation of comprehensive quality about prospect English teachers under the guidance of New English Curriculum Standard.In this research, research subjects are English senior students, from Qufu Normal University and Henan Normal University. On the basis of carefully analyzed some literature about English teacher education, the main line about the questionnaire and interview referring to the New English Curriculum Standard's requirements for the future English teachers and the English teacher education was made. The main methods used in the research are questionnaire and interview. After analyzing the collected data and materials, the elements can be known that influence the cultivation of the future English teachers in pre-service education and then some suggestions are offered.The whole paper is composed of 6 chapters:Chapter One is introduction. It gives a brief description about the background of the study, and explains the necessity and the meaning of this research.Chapter Two is literature review, which summarizes the domestic and the international documents on English teacher preparation program about basic education, and then it gives an account of the pre-service education and the comprehensive quality about future English teachers.Chapter Three, this part analyses the requirements about educational concept, knowledge structure and teaching ability for future English teachers and English teachers'education.Chapter Four is research design and analysis. The survey indicates the situation of the cultivation of high qualities is not so good. Such as the development of professional knowledge is unbalanced, the sense of teaching is weak and the practical ability is bad and so on. Chapter Five offers some suggestions on the cultivation about future English teachers. It includes making the right cultivating position, curriculum optimization, increasing the proposition of practical course, reforming teaching activities, improving research interest and capacity, and diversified cultivation.Chapter Six draws the conclusions about the research according to the results and it also points out the limitation of the study.
