"The Yuanhe Style" is an important style in theTang Dynasty poetic phenomina as well as a subject of concern in the study of classical poetry for many years. This article is to study "The Yuanhe Style" from the following aspects. This article is divided into three chapters. The first chapter is about the content of "The Yuanhe Style". There are many defferent definations about this style and opinions on it vary from school to school. This article, refering to different opinions of antient to modern times, will define "The Yuanhe Style" again o the basis of those former definations. The author think that "The Yuanhe Style" is a poetic style which was popular in Yuanhe and Changqing peoriod. This style, represented by Yuanzhen's and Bai Juyi's works mainly to convey the writers'emotions or lyrics for singing and answering including those long extended poems for answering each other, "small pieces" created when drinking and some other similar works by other poets.Chapter two focuses on the creation of the works in the style. Section one is about the contents of "The Yuanhe Style" and Yuan Zhen and Bai Juyi's poems. Different from thos e earlier works, Yuan Zhen' s Bai Juyi's long poems is main concerned with the poets'ambition adn their own unfortunate experiences. Most of the small pieces, however, came from small incidents in front of eyes, and mainly reflected the their transient mood. They didn't avoid using shallow and easy words or deny eroticism. They recorded their life authenticly and expressed their emotion truthfully. Section two maily talks about the artistic features of the style. Their long poems show the features that prose can exist in the form of poems, current affairs can dissolve into poetry. Besides, they broke the writing habits that had been used for long and use rich and gaudy words to describe scenes and express feelings. Small pieces have the characteristics of principle and interest. In spite of the shortcomings in poem writing, we can see the writers' inner world as ordinary persons in these poems. Section three mainly talks about the cause of "The Yuanhe Style". Literature works are often influenced by the writer's mood and thinking. Having been stricken by the dark reality, Yuan Zhen and Bai Juyi's thinking changed over time gradually, which in turn influenced the poets'writing styles. They began writing "Yuanhe Poems" concerning their life adn feelings rather than political allegories. Meanwhile, the social structure was changing during that peoriod and the status of "shuzu"----the lower classes began to take a rise adn thus started to donminate the society, which had a direct impact on literature----elegant literature had to give way to pop literature. Populized aethetic tendency promoted the creation adn developmennt of "The Yuanhe Style". We can say that the changes of the poets'thinking and adn hte development of literature aethetic make "The Yuanhe Style" come into being and develop. Section four, "The Yuanhe Style" imitated by other poets. Apart from Yuan Zhen and Bai Juyi, "the Yuanbai School" also included other poets such as Xu Ning, Zhou Yuanfan, Shi Jianwu, Zhang Hu and Liu Yuxi and other poets influcenced by Yuan Zhen and Bai Juyi. Although they were not as important writers of "The Yuanhe Style" and couldn't have as much influence as Yuan and Bai, although their works can't match against Yuan Zhen's and Bai Juyi's poems in thinking and art, their wrting techniques and contents have the characteristics of "The Yuanhe Style". According to these facts, their works should belong to the family of the Yuanhe Poetry. Chapter three is relevant to the spread adn popularity of "The Yuanhe Style". As a style, it became very popular with up to high officials and down to common people in the mid-Tang Dynasty. In section one, the reason of its popularity is explored. Firt of all, rhythem poems developed greatly and gradually replace the position of the ancient poetry and then became one important part in examinations. At the same time, "The Yuanhe Style "is one form of rhythem poems and it had reach a high level in using rhythems and art, therefore it became the best practice target for examinations and greatly stimulated the interest in competing in poetry among literatis. Secondly, "The Yuanhe Style", maily describing the poet's own opinions about life adn small incidents around them, expanded the range of performance of the poetry. It plays an important part in showing the expressive function of literature works, so it met different needs of different readers on different levels and in varying degrees. In addition, "The Yuanhe Style" had reached a very high artistic level because it had aesthetic features of "deep thought showed by easy words, new rhythems and rhymes, precise description for things and chic and special styles". What's more, these works are suitable for being sung out, and because the Mid-Tang Dynasty is a society which had the fashion of keeping showgirls, "The Yuanhe Style" was then taken to every corner of the society. Last but not least, Yuan Zhen's and Bai Juyi's poems are appropriate for common people adn it didn't aim to get high fame and status, as a result, it got fully developed during this peoriod. Section two draws out attention to the status and infulence of "The Yuanhe Style". After leading the creations style and fashion of the contemperary works and late-Tang Dynasty, it even had a prefound inflence on Song Poetry. Although crictics may have good or bad opinions of it, there is no doubt that "The Yuanhe Style" has enlightened the development of the poetry. We shouldn't deny its status in the literature world just because of some shortcomings. Based on "the Yuanhe Poems" and combined with history, this article will analyze the concept, contents, features and status of the "The Yuanhe Style" by using literary psychological analysis, and conduct a full study of "The Yuanhe Style"...
